Equestrian Programme

A unique opportunity to combine school and equestrian experiences in beautiful Northland.

Our Equestrian Enrichment Programme is offered regularly during term time at Northgate Lodge Equestrian, just a 5-minute drive from Pompallier Catholic College.

Northgate Lodge is a family-run, all-season equestrian centre with excellent facilities, including an 80 x 40m fibre-surface arena and a full set of show jumps.  The centre provides a safe, welcoming and professional environment where students can enjoy riding and develop their equestrian skills.

The programme is suitable for novice to experienced riders.  Each student is assessed individually and matched with a suitable horse or pony, ensuring that lessons are enjoyable, supportive and appropriate for their experience and goals.

Students have the opportunity to build confidence, improve their riding skills and develop a special connection with their horse throughout the term.  For international students, the programme offers a memorable New Zealand experience that combines outdoor activity, personal growth and the opportunity to experience the country’s strong equestrian culture.

We also offer horse treks on beautiful Northland beaches and local orchards for those students with little or no horse riding experience.
